The Climate Change Levy of 1st April 2001 applies to energy used in the non-domestic sector with the aim of encouraging this sector to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The introduction of the Climate Change Levy has resulted in companies paying specific attention to methods of energy saving and heat recovery. Industrial processes use large quantities of fuel and electricity that ultimately produce heat, much of which results in energy waste or heat loss. The amount of energy required to reheat the displaced air can be considerable, and with higher gas and electricity bills, heat recovery is now a viable option.
