Solutions Power Quality
Merus Power - Active Harmonic Filter System
The Merus® A2 Active Harmonic Filter is a robust solution designed for optimizing power quality in electrical networks. By measuring the distorted current produced by non-linear loads and generating harmonic frequencies with opposite phase angles, it effectively cancels out harmonic currents, significantly reducing voltage harmonics. This results in improved electrical efficiency, compliance with standards like IEEE 519 and EN 50160, and dynamic reactive power compensation, all of which contribute to voltage variation and flicker mitigation, enhancing overall power quality. This device is versatile and scalable, capable of connecting in parallel to increase harmonic compensation capacity, and can operate under demanding industrial conditions without performance degradation. Additionally, it offers dynamic load balancing to evenly distribute loads across phases, preventing system overloading, thus ensuring reliable and economical operation throughout its application range.
Merus Power - Active Harmonic Filter for VFDs
The Merus 4DRIVES Active Harmonic Filter is specifically engineered for applications involving Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This device offers a streamlined solution to address complex power quality issues by mitigating harmonic currents at the point of measurement. By employing techniques similar to those of noise-canceling headphones, the filter measures distorted currents and injects harmonic frequencies with opposite phase angles, effectively canceling out harmonic currents. This process reduces voltage distortion and supports dynamic reactive power compensation, which aids in power factor improvement and voltage sag mitigation. The design of the filter focuses on user-friendly operation, featuring a 7-inch touch screen for easy commissioning and operation. It can control up to seven modules simultaneously, and remote control and monitoring are facilitated through a cloud-based platform. The filter's modular design allows for easy integration into VFD systems without the need for external power supplies or controllers, while ensuring redundancy through independent operation of successive modules.
Merus Power - Hybrid Power Quality Compensator
Merus HPQ is a hybrid power quality compensator that combines two existing technologies in one compact and well-performing solution. Its operation is based on two main components: a detuned capacitor bank and an active harmonic filter. The detuned capacitor steps fulfill most capacitive reactive power needs. At the same time, the Merus® A2-Active Harmonic Filter module handles the intermediate steps and inductive reactive power, filters the harmonic currents, and balances the unbalanced currents. Merus® HPQ is an all-in-one power quality system.
Merus Power - Static Synchronous Compensator System
The Merus STATCOM is a modular Static Synchronous Compensator system designed for renewable applications and heavy industrial loads. Its primary function is to stabilize voltage and enhance power quality across various industrial settings, including steel mills and mining operations. Modular in design, it offers scalable reactive power capacity and can address diverse power needs from a few MVArs in smaller setups to over 100 MVArs in large facilities. Components like Filter Capacitor Banks are utilized to lower CAPEX in applications requiring capacitive compensation. STATCOM systems ensure steady voltage to minimize flicker, improve energy efficiency, and reduce CO2 emissions, specifically beneficial in environments with high energy consumption and emission profiles. The system allows integration in both indoor and outdoor settings, harnessing cloud-based IoT services for maintenance and operation, further complemented by significant benefits in grid stability and operational productivity.
