Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe GmbH’s work & services include complete turnkey plants (EPC) based on fossil fuels. Its most recent references feature the Walsum 10 coal power plant (Germany), which was placed into service at the end of 2013, and the Kozienice 11 (Poland) and Ptolemaida V (Greece) power plant projects currently being erected in the consortium.

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe has over 20 references for turnkey gas / combined-cycle plants in Europe and the Middle East with an installed capacity of approx. 4,500 MW.

The blade tips of a turbine rotate some 3,000 times a minute and are thus faster than the speed of sound. The blades under extremely high steam temperatures (approx. 620 °C) and pressures (up to 250 bar) are subjected to extreme loads and stresses. Even so, it is expected of steam turbines that they are reliable and perform their work round the clock.

For more than 100 years, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems has been engaged in the design, manufacture and installation of a wide range of steam turbines – from small single-cylinder turbines to 1,700MW-class large nuclear turbines – for applications across the spectrum of industrial and utility power generation.

MHPS Kure Works. is acutely aware of the need to respond to global environmental issues and therefore dedicates great deal of continuous professional research effort to realize improvements to its various product lines. For pulverized coal combustion we firstly developed a unique Low-NOx burner system, the NR burner, based on the concept of `In-flame NOx reduction`. This sophisticated and proven reliable design, together with recognition within the Industry of ours continuous contribution to Low NOx combustion technology, merited the prestigious Award of the JSME Medal (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) and the Premier Prize from the Director-General of the Environmental Agency. Continuation of research effort by us lead to development of a second-generation Low-NOx burner, designated NR2, with further enhanced NOx decomposition capability.

The first MHPS axial compressor was developed for the gas turbine for Hokuto-Maru (training ship for Ministry of Transport) in 1954. Since then MHPS has provided more than 150 axial compressors. MHPS axial compressors and blowers are operating in various fields such as blast furnaces, refining process facilities, research facilities, etc.

Since 1967 MHPS has provided more than 400 centrifugal compressors and more than 50 expansion turbines. They are operating as electric-generating expansion turbines, compressed air sources, etc. in geothermal power plants and nuclear power plants.
