Wind Energy

The purpose of the CENER Wind Energy Department is to develop applied research activities and give technical advice in the field of wind energy, providing a service for all the sector players, such as: developers, manufacturers, certification authorities, financial institutions, users, associations and administrative bodies, both at home and abroad. The aim, in short, is to improve the efficiency and therefore the competitiveness of an evolving sector. In this sense, the CENER Wind Energy Department is working on different research projects, on its own initiative and in cooperation with technological centres, institutions and companies.

Photovoltaic Solar Energy

One of the main aims of the CENER Photovoltaic Solar Energy Department is to support the photovoltaic industrial sector with its developments and to help reduce the costs of this type of energy source, improving and increasing its possibilities of use. The Department has two different fields of action, on the one hand, the research carried out by participating in R&D&I projects, and on the other, the value added services it provides to industries and individuals. Thus, its scope of action extends not just to the manufacturers of products with photovoltaic applications, but also to all the players involved in their subsequent implementation.

Solar Thermal Energy

The Solar Thermal Energy Department of the National Renewable Energy Centre offers technological services and carries out applied research activities related to the thermal use of solar energy. Its main objective is to help improve thermosolar technologies and thus facilitate their penetration into the market with the final aim of converting them into a leading player in the process of transforming the current energy system into an environmentally sustainable system.

Biomass Energy

The CENER Biomass Energy Department carries out applied research activities in biomass energy, providing services to all the sector players: associations, public administrations, users, producers, financial institutions, etc. Its main objective is to help improve the technical-economic conditions for the use of this type of energy.

Bioclimatic Architecture

The Bioclimatic Architecture Department of the National Renewable Energy Centre researches new building methods that reduce the energy and environmental problems in our cities to a minimum, for which it proposes specific design solutions that adapt to the climate where they are located, saving energy and providing users with greater comfort levels. Collaborating with architects, engineers and developers, it offers them advice on: Energy saving and efficiency strategies in buildings. Bioclimatic construction solutions and systems. Energy efficient materials. Integration of renewable systems in buildings. Optimisation of equipment and systems for climate control and natural lighting.

Renewable Energy Grid Integration

The Renewable Energy Grid Integration Department aims to research and develop systems that will allow for a greater and better integration of renewable energies into the electricity grid. The Department analyses problems that might occur in the electrical system due to an increase in the penetration of renewable energies into the energy mix, proposing measures whose aim is to appropriately manage the system, including energy accumulation systems.
