Narec is the UK’s national research centre for accelerating grid integration of renewable energy systems and catalysing the development and deployment of offshore wind, wave and tidal energy generation technologies.

The Offshore Anemometry Hub will be installed 6km offshore of Blyth, Northumberland and close to the location of the proposed nearest shore array of the Blyth Offshore Wind Demonstrator Project.

Our engineering consultancy provides inventors, investors and marine developers with concept evaluation and technical expertise, determining the best route to deployment though a combination of market intelligence, engineering design and technical assessment.

Utilising a dedicated team of specialist technical and engineering consultants, Narec is working with developers of technologies to enhance their product and market propositions. Narec speeds up the process towards commercialisation and field deployment.

Narec has been independently assessed by BRE Global to conduct testing of micro and small wind turbines in accordance with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) requirements. Narec offers a range of testing and consultancy services to assist developers and manufacturers of small wind turbine devices in accordance with industry standards.
