Measurement of Thermal Emission
Absorbed energy causes heating, which leads to radiation. To save energy and improve thermal management, e.g. in buildings, the thermal emissivity is an important parameter. For absorber coatings and low-e coatings, the emissivity determines the effectiveness and economy of a coating. Low-e is the abbreviation for "Low emissivity", which means "low heat emission". The emissivity indicates how much radiation a body emits compared to the ideal radiator. We carry out measurements for you regarding reflectance and emissivity at 82 °C / 180 °F in the range 3-30 µm of any coating as an integral value. Flat samples (any sample size, at least 5.5 x 5.5 cm) and also tubes can be measured. The method is non-destructive. By comparing different coatings, calculations regarding energy savings/gains can be made.
Dielectric Strength
To test the electrical insulation effect, the breakdown voltage can be measured similar to DIN EN ISO 2376. Flat and almost flat surfaces can be measured. Near edges or sharp-edged angle transitions the measurement is not permitted. The test is - if measured to the point of sparking - destructive. In modified form with "wet" contacting, the finest cracks can be detected in insulating layers. Fields of application are testing of components (e.g. for coils, transformers, magnets, generators) and their Insulation layers for the testing of: Oxide layers on anodised aluminum, magnesium etc. Paint coatings, thickness influence and error checking Electrical insulating films
