Model E-Fuels - Green Hydrogen and Synthetic Green

The problem of the increased CO2 concentration in our atmosphere is arising from man excavating fossil carbon-based fuel – in form of coal, oil or natural gas – and burning it and releasing the contained carbon into the environment. The increased CO2 concentration may lead to global warming. We need to substitute the usage of fossil fuels, in all three energy sectors, by green hydrogen or synthetic green e-fuels.

Model Kite H2 - Gas/Fuel Ship

OCEANERGY currently develops the KITE H2 SHIP technology, which is a special form of the KITE GAS/FUEL SHIP: Its aim is to produce green hydrogen, and deliver it to H2 terminals in a harbour, at a lower cost than with any other production technology or scenario. Low H2 production cost is possible because of the KITE H2 SHIP’s. extraordinarily high capacity factor of 80-90% per annum, 100% on a normal day, leading to, highest physical efficiencies (beyond 75%) for electrolysis, and investment efficiencies (utilization) of the facilities on board, and because logistics until offload is integrated into the KITE H2 SHIP solution. Green H2 can be produced in unlimited quantities, where there are the best wind resources on the planet, fully ecological, with no harm to sea life, outside the EEZ (exclusive economic zones) on the open ocean from wind power.

Model K1 - Kites Propulsion Systems for Ships

OCEANERGY has designed a kite propulsion system for ships – as the main propulsion system. Our kite propulsion systems allow to fully navigate ships on all wind courses, upwind and downwind, including changes of direction. With this, the ship can fully navigate. An auxiliary electric propulsion system is only used as an emergency back up and to navigate close to harbors. We have built a prototype of the kite propulsion system. It is still in small scale, able to handle kites up to 80 m2. It has undergone an extensive test program at OCEANERGY’s Kite Test Centre, which we operate in windy Cape Town (South Africa). The kite propulsion system consists of two main components: our unique kite control system, including a pilot cockpit and artificial intelligence (AI) electronic control, the kite itself: our low-weight yet high-load RES Kites.
