Pentol - Power Plant SO3 Monitoring System
In power generation SO3 measurements provide data to allow the operator to burn fuel in the most efficient way to minimize corrosion of the plant and limit acid discharges to the environment. Monitoring of SO3 is also important where it is formed as a by-product, e.g. in De-NOx systems.In processes where H2SO4 is used or ore with large amounts of sulphur is processed, the SO3 monitor can measure SO4 2- ions and show emission as mg/Nm3 or ppm.
PentoMag - Model 2550 - Coal Slagging (fouling) System
Certain coals tend to form slag and sintered deposits in the combustion chamber of the boiler. These slagging effects lead to a reduction in efficiency of the plant and eventually the plant needs to be shut down for cleaning in short intervals. PentoMag 2550 contains chemicals that increase the fusion temperature of metals contained in coal ash, thus preventing that ash can stick to the boiler walls. It changes the amorphous structure by forming friable crystals with low density

To avoid damage to the superheaters, the chlorine conditioning process of Pentol uses SO3 gas to establish a sulfur- chlorine equilibrium. By balancing the chlorine with the SO3, high temperature corrosion can be stopped completely and corrosive deposits on the superheaters are removed. During combustion of biomass, chlorine is released in different forms and in different quantities, depending on the type of biomass. In combination with alkali metals contained in the fuel, alkaline chlorides are formed and cause heavy corrosion in the plant.
Cleaning
PentoSolv3 - For Power Plant Cleaning
After combustion optimization with additives is successfully applied, we often find a significant potential for increasing efficiency by cleaning heat exchanger surfaces. Every 1°C attained in an intercooler is adding to the total efficiency of the plant, no matter if it is a boiler, gas turbine or diesel engine. These tenacious and isolating remnants have to be removed regularly in order to ensure an optimal heat transmission on the one hand and to avoid corrosion on the other hand. As a water jet cannot normally be used for cleaning of the fine fins, PentoSolv offers a simple way of cleaning these elements.
