Ground-mount solar panels are positioned on the ground rather than on the roof. The panels are positioned on a tilt frame at about a 30-degree angle. This assures maximum solar energy absorption and output. They are placed anywhere from a few inches to several feet off the ground.

Single-axis tracking systems have increased energy production due to long panels following the sun throughout the day. Due to their long span and moving parts, these require more land area.
