Software Tailored for the Quick Modeling
PLS-CADD/LITE is an optimized variant of the PLS-CADD software tailored for the quick modeling of limited spans, making it exceptionally well-suited for Joint-Use applications. The software excels in performing rapid sag-tension, clearance, and load calculations. PLS-CADD/LITE can function independently or integrate with the PLS-POLE program for comprehensive Joint-Use structural analysis. Each wire in LITE is mapped with a single row of input data specifying span endpoints and wire tension. The interface supports span geometry definition either through attachment point coordinates or span length and bearing. It accommodates various sagging methods, including tension input, catenary constant, and mid-span sag. A guided wizard interface enhances usability, which can connect seamlessly with the Wood Pole Wizard for integrated wire and structural modeling. Utilizing the same cable libraries and precise calculation algorithms as the full PLS-CADD, LITE eliminates the necessity for terrain and structure modeling. This robust application supports up to 60 wires in diverse orientations, includes sag-tension calculations, and offers thermal rating and structural loading calculations. It runs on a Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 environment, offering compatibility with common graphical user interfaces and printers. The system also provides detailed strength and clearance design criteria, making it a valuable tool for electrical engineers and professionals in power line design and maintenance.
Power Line Systems - Software Tool for Quick Modeling
PLS-CADD/ULTRALITE is a specialized software tool designed to facilitate the quick modeling of a single span of a conductor or wire. It generates comprehensive Sag-Tension reports and Stringing Charts for a user-definable range of span lengths and stringing temperatures. Developed with the intent of simplifying the process of wire modeling, the software offers a streamlined interface where all inputs are collected in a single dialog box, and both text and graphical results are updated in real time as inputs are modified. Key features include multiple wire tension input modes such as Horizontal Tension, Catenary, Sag, or Slack, along with an 'AutoSag' option that adjusts the wire to the highest tension within user-defined constraints. The software supports advanced sag-tension methods, making it suitable for educational purposes to study wire behavior under diverse conditions. The application runs on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 environment, providing users with the flexibility to operate on powerful yet economical systems. It also includes an online library of over 5,000 predefined cables and customizable design criteria, supporting both metric and imperial units.
