It was the year 1996 when ROPAT founder Robert Niederkofler began the development of a new concept of exploiting wind energy, based on the movement of a vertical axis turbine and with unique characteristics in the world. His vision was to raise public awareness of the importance of renewable energy and at the same time bring it to remote areas of the world: schools and villages not reached by electricity, shelters, Telecom stations and for other applications.
