Fired heaters harness the heat of combustion to increase the temperature of fluid flowing through internal tubing. The design requires a sophisticated analysis of the inlet conditions, oil properties, desired outlet conditions, and fuel source. Several variables, including water content and the presence of vapors, must also be accounted for to ensure maximum efficiency and proper functioning of a fired heater.

Sep-Pro Lube Oil Re-Refining systems distill (atmospheric and vacuum) used lube oil that generally contains light ends, water, asphaltene, and trace organic acids. The bottoms enter a liquid-liquid extraction system where the remaining asphaltenes and aromatics are extracted using a polar solvent. The system uses distillation to recover the solvent from the raffinate and extraction phases of the extraction column.
