Graphite and Carbon Electrodes

Graphite Electrode

Graphite electrodes are used for the recycling of steel in the electric arc furnace industry, so called `mini-mills.` We do not simply provide graphite electrodes and nipples as stand alone products to our customers. Rather, the focus is on the delivery of an entire `product system`, supported by sales and technical experts from the receipt of the customer`s order, throughout the entire production process, to final product in the steel plants.

Cathodes and Furnace Linings

Furnace Linings for Blast Furnaces

The Blast Furnace/Blast Oxygen Furnace route was developed for the production of high quality primary steel. It is the most successful route to produce primary steel. As the availability of scrap metal and electricity increases, the number of EAF (Electric Arc Furnaces) will increase to recycle the scrap. The EAF steel will not be sufficient to cover the steel demand in the world, and both production routes have a bright future.

Equipment Solutions

Graphite Heat Exchangers

For more than 50 years, we design and produce graphite heat exchangers for many corrosive applications. Our product lines – the largest of its kind in the industry – include the full range from shell & tube to block or plate heat exchangers. DIABON® graphite makes the heat exchangers suitable for corrosive media on both service and product side and ensures high thermal conductivity.

Silicon Carbide Heat Exchangers

For the processing of highly abrasive or oxidizing media, free halogens and extremely aggressive solvents, we offer a high end product line of silicon carbide (SiC) heat exchangers. SiC is one of the hardest materials available. Combined with a high thermal conductivity, this feature makes it a perfect choice for the heat exchange under most demanding chemical conditions.

Special Heat Exchangers

Our special heat exchangers are designed for the recovery of thermal energy from flue gases. Our introduction of corrosion resistant graphite in this segment means a real innovation for the heating industry. It can enhance the overall energy efficiency of combustion processes by more than 10% and at the same time substantially reduce the operating costs of the heating system.
