SKYRE - Industrial Hydrogen Recycling Machine
SKYRE develops and manufactures innovative products based on a proprietary, low-cost large format electrochemical platform. Developed for NASA, the H2RENEW solid-state device efficiently separates and compresses hydrogen for industrial hydrogen recycling, hydrogen energy storage, and fueling applications. SKYRE's H2RENEW product provides on-site gas recycling to recover and purify process hydrogen, significantly reducing the reliance on transported hydrogen via trucks and cylinders. The system offers fresh, pressurized hydrogen resupply at a fraction of the cost of delivered hydrogen. Mechanical reciprocating piston and diaphragm compressors commonly used to increase hydrogen volume density for storage and transport generate considerable noise and vibration and are both expensive and inefficient. Electrochemical hydrogen compressors (EHCs) from SKYRE are modular, highly efficient, and come equipped with hydrogen purification functions with no moving parts. H2RENEW technology also facilitates the transport of hydrogen via natural gas pipelines, later extracting and compressing it at fueling stations for hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), thus enhancing the availability and economic viability of hydrogen as a widespread energy source.
