How high - or how low - is the yield of a grid-connected photovoltaic system? This question is not easy to answer without business management tools. A purely static estimate of when the EEG feed-in revenues will have "recouped" the investment costs does not lead to reliable return calculations. PVProfit is a dynamic calculation programme which can be used to determine the economic efficiency of PV systems which are supported by a feed-in tariff under the EEG. The programme takes into account investment costs as well as operating and credit costs and an internal rate of return on capital employed. The capital costs in particular have a considerable influence on the amortization period and thus on the profitability of a photovoltaic system.
