Battery Management Systems

Stafl Systems - Battery Management Systems

Stafl Systems BMS1000 Series Battery Management Systems features a modular architecture that includes a BMS Master Module such as the BMS1000M and 1 to 64 BMS Monitor Modules like the BMS1101S or BMS1102S. By incorporating a CAN 2.0B communication port, these systems integrate seamlessly into automotive, stationary, and industrial applications. With advanced features such as accurate State of Health (SoH), State of Charge (SoC), and Safe Operating Envelope technologies, it provides real-time information on battery pack conditions. This data aids in maintaining optimal performance and safety. The system utilizes Fault Vectoring technology to pinpoint and diagnose potential issues swiftly. Additional features include a main contactor control circuit, versatile digital inputs and outputs, microSD card support for data logging, and a USB interface for configuration. Designed for scalability, it supports up to 850V systems and includes temperature sensors for each cell group, passive cell balancing, and a precharge circuit with resistor integration.

Stafl Systems - Battery Management Systems

The BMS1101S Monitor Unit is designed to be used within an array of other BMS1101S Monitors and a Master BMS Controller (e.g. BMS1000M) to form a high accuracy Battery Management System. Data and commands are transmitted and received via CAN 2.0B interface which connects these units. Get accurate State of Health, State of Charge and Safe Operating Envelope data for your battery pack. The BMS1101S Monitor Unit measures the voltages of 6 – 12 series connected battery cells, and can apply a 22 Ω shunt resistor across each battery cell to bleed off excess charge (passive balancing). The BMS1101S also measures the resistance of up to 12 thermistors to determine cell temperatures.

Battery Packs

Stafl Systems - 1.1 KWH Battery Packs

The BAT1400 1.1 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery Pack was developed for electric aviation customers and uses the AER CELL™ 4 Ah pouch cell. This cell was developed by AER CELL™ Technologies in partnership with Stafl Systems and is exclusive to Stafl Systems. With an energy density of 160.5 Wh/kg, this pack provides energy to take flight. The housing has been developed to be both light and protected from water ingress. The pack uses the Stafl Systems BMS for low-voltage applications with CAN Bus communications. The pack features a single charge/discharge connector, and includes a mating connector for easy integration. The included Charging Dock uses a Delta-Q Technologies ICL900 series charger and a slide-in/slide-out docking for easy charging. Charging takes approximately 90 minutes to full charge.

Vehicle Control Units

Stafl Systems - 60-PIN Vehicle Control Unit

The VCU1200 is a fully programmable, ruggedized embedded control module intended for use in a variety of system and vehicle control applications. User applications are given full access to system resources and peripherals with an easy-to-use hardware abstraction written in C++. A number of input and output stages provide the discrete interface with the larger system. Two CAN 2.0B ports are fully configurable to allow for communication with other devices. Each port includes a software selectable termination resistor for maximum system flexibility. User applications are programmed onto the device using the CAN1 or CAN2 interface and the VCU1200 bootloader, which can be accessed via the Stafl Systems Bootloader Utility.
