To make multilayer ceramic chip capacitors more compact with larger capacity, we drew on TDK`s advanced material technologies, making the particle sizes super fine. By putting our original processing technologies to full use, we have perfected the advanced layering technique which ensures the precise placing of dielectric and electrode layers, as well as the multilayering technology capable of as many as 1000 layers. The thickness of each layer is at a submicron level. By reducing the thickness of each layer and increasing the number of layers, even the ultrasmall chip combines the capacity close to that of tantalum capacitors with excellent reliability.

The aluminum electrolytic capacitors with screw terminals feature solid terminals designed to carry high currents. Typically they are connected to the surrounding application by bus bars. Arrays of capacitors can be designed to form banks with a multiple of the rated voltage, capacitance and ripple current capabilities. Advanced series feature extremely compact dimensions, outstanding ripple current capabilities and an extra long useful life. Typical applications are frequency converters, wind power generators, UPS, traction and professional power supplies. The option for heatsink mounting available at TDK strongly increases the ripple current capabilities and the useful life. Additional options such as protection against polarity reversal, extra low inductance and mounting accessories are also available. The aluminum electrolytic capacitors with screw terminals offer a voltage range from 16V to 600V and a capacitance range from 560µF to 680,000µF.

AC film capacitors are indispensable components for general AC industrial applications and asynchronous motors as motor start and motor run capacitors. AC film capacitors are suitable for AC output filters, especially in UPS and solar inverters. The main applications for asynchronous motors are air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, dryers, fans and pumps. These capacitors are available in versions that meet IEC 61071 and IEC 60252 standards. TDK offers a complete product range of AC film capacitors with national and international approvals, such as UL, VDE, CQC, and CE.

Power electronic capacitors (PEC) are components for equipment and installations which are operated at high power. They are used to convert and control this power. TDK produces the following kinds of power electronic capacitors: MKK DC/DCI (metallized plastic film, compact), PCC HP/LP (power capacitor chip high/low power), MKP (metallized plastic film, low-loss). All capacitors are self-healing, i.e. voltage breakdowns heal in a matter of microseconds and so produce no short circuit.
