RPG is a growing forum for international academics, industry and business leaders to meet, publish results and share knowledge in the renewable power generation sector. With a revised scope which directly reflects challenges and issues faced by industry, and a new chair in Mike O’Hare, General Manager of London Array, Operator of the world`s largest operational offshore wind farm, the conference is more relevant than ever to those working in and researching for the expanding renewables sector. It retains its strong link to the IET Renewable Power Generation Journal with selected papers being invited for consideration in a Special Issue of the journal, post-event.

The Substation Technology 2009 Conference is a two day programme, packed with informative sessions and interactive discussions, delivering an examination of the plant equipment you are working with, the techniques employed to increase intelligence, and reviewing the cost effective design options for substations and the IEC 61850 standards.
The Hunter Memorial Lecture and Dinner will also be taking place on the evening of 3 November at Thinktank, Birmingham. The Lecture is free to attend and the speaker, Duncan Botting (Managing Director, I
Sep. 14-17, 2009 Newcastle
This event will provide engineers with an appreciation of the technical issues relating to distributed generation. This will be achieved through a combination of lectures and case studies providing real experience and technical knowledge.
The large range of topics covered provides breadth of knowledge, from the principal prime movers, to generators,
their control and protection, through to connection to the distribution network in compliance with Engineering Recommendation G.59, a copy of which will be provided to delegates.
Jun. 8-11, 2009 Prague
Join leading professionals in the Electricity Distribution Field for CIRED 2009! CIRED is Europe’s largest electricity distribution conference and includes three full days of technical presentations, as well as a trade show of the key names in the industry.
CIRED 2009 offers a unique opportunity to learn, discuss and exchange experiences about the major structural, technical, managerial and regulatory changes that are now being made and will further take place to cope with the full liberalisation of the market.
Dec. 9, 2008 Birmingham
The address will review the fundamental changes now being faced by electricity grids in Britain, across Europe, and beyond. What are the drivers creating this radical change; how will it affect end customers and the industry; how well is the UK placed, and what are the risks and opportunities ahead.

How far away is the creation of the zero-carbon home?
The Government is aiming that all new-build homes will be zero-carbon by 2016. This event will examine the engineering and design challenges involved in bringing this to market and will review the latest technologies available to engineers, architects and the construction industry to enable them to create the carbon-neutral building.
It will include a look at how zero carbon homes can be achieved by 2016, and debate the policies that will begin to deliver a zero carbon housing stock.

The UK Government aspires to generate 20% of UK electricity from renewable energy sources by the year 2020. In practice, much of this will be connected as “distributed generation”, primarily domestic and industrial CHP schemes, wind farms and diesel power generation, in addition to other renewables such as hydro and solar PV. This event aims to provide engineers with an appreciation of the technical issues relating to distributed generation. This will be achieved through a unique combination of lectures and case studies providing both breadth and depth.
