Heat Exchangers - Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

TIPO - Fixed Tube Sheet Heat Exchangers

The fixed tube heat exchanger is a prevalent choice across various industries, particularly suited for high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Its design involves welding the tube sheet to the shell, thereby preventing any relative motion between the shell and the tube bundle. This robust connection ensures durability and reliability in demanding applications. The exchanger's simple and compact structure results in low manufacturing costs and allows for a higher number of tubes within a given shell diameter. However, its design does present a challenge for maintenance, as mechanical cleaning of the shell side is not feasible. The fixed tube heat exchanger is ideal for systems where the temperature differential between the shell and tube is minimal or where the pressure in the shell pass is low. In cases where the shell side media can lead to scaling, chemical cleaning might be required. Its versatility extends to applications such as air heaters in boilers, enhancing combustion efficiency by recovering waste heat from flue gas and preheating combustion air.

TIPO - U Tube Heat Exchangers

U Tube Heat Exchangers are a specific type of shell and tube heat exchanger primarily used in the petroleum and chemical industries. Named for their distinct 'U' shaped tubes, these exchangers consist of key components such as the tube box, shell, and tube bundle. Their design allows the tube bundle to expand and contract freely, minimizing thermal stress and providing robust thermal compensation. Featuring a single tubesheet and minimal sealing surfaces, these exchangers are cost-effective and easy to clean and maintain. Additionally, they are lightweight and suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure environments. One notable aspect is the bending radius of the tubes, which should be at least twice the outer diameter of the tubes. Typically designed according to ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 1, these exchangers can handle high loads and prevent stress damage during thermal cycles. ANSON can produce U Tube Heat Exchangers meeting ASME, TEMA, and API standards with materials ranging from steel and stainless steel to copper alloys. Custom specifications are also supported.

TIPO - Finned Tube Heat Exchangers

Finned Tube Heat Exchangers feature tubes with an extended outer surface area, or fins, designed to improve the heat transfer rate by increasing the effective transfer area between the tubes and the surrounding fluid, whether it is a process fluid or air. These exchangers are commonly used in power plants to enhance the efficiency of exhaust gas heat exchange and preheat combustion air. Additionally, they serve to condense exhaust steam from steam or Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbines. In industrial dryers, they heat air using hot water, steam, or thermal oil. They are also employed in industrial production processes, for instance, in the air conditioning of buildings where they cool or re-cool liquids. Closed cooling circuits using finned tube heat exchangers are favored over open water circuits due to issues such as Legionella, high fresh water consumption, and the complex water treatment required by open cooling towers.
