By using the technology of Battery Module NP2 as the foundation, we succeeded in drastic improvement in the cooling performance and the down-size of battery by adopting the metallic battery case and the new power collection structure, thereby enabling flexible adoption to various types of cars.

This is the prismatic Ni-MH battery module in a resin case featuring the new structure that is developed based on the technologies cultivated as the specialized manufacturer of battery pack systems for HEV. The product is of the high-power type, having the output density of 1,300 W/kg (approx. 1.3 times as compared to our conventional modules) and the energy density of 46 Wh/kg. Development of a new electrode materials and the new joint structure of cells significantly reduced the internal Impedance, and reliability factors, such as lifetime characteristics, were further enhanced by improving the laminated electrode group composition. Thanks to the simple and compact pack module structure and the higher output performance of the battery, the number of batteries per vehicle can be drastically reduced, wherein space saving of 15% in terms of cubic volume and weight saving of about 25% were achieved as compared to our conventional battery packs.

To know the battery condition, the unit measures the voltage, current, temperatures, etc., of the battery module and monitors inputs and outputs to and from the battery. Furthermore, it also executes the management to cool the battery and monitors the high-voltage safety circuit, thereby ensuring safe and efficient use of the battery pack.
