Unison Solutions - Siloxane and VOC Removal Systems

Siloxanes are chemicals used extensively in industrial products such as lubricants and in personal care products. Nearly all digester and landfill gas contains one or more species of siloxanes. When biogas containing siloxanes is combusted in gas turbines, boilers, fuel cells, or internal combustion engines, deposits of solid silica (SiO2) collect within the equipment. Damage inflicted by siloxane deposits can be profound, causing more frequent maintenance and lower generation capacity. Due to increasing issues caused by siloxanes many of our systems include integrated siloxane removal systems.

Unison Solutions - BioCNG Vehicle Fuel Systems

Unison Solutions is the co-inventor of a biogas upgrading system that economically produces BioCNG, a biogas-based fuel, to power vehicles designed for compressed natural gas (CNG). Utilizing this system, biogas is piped to the BioCNG upgrading system from the landfill or anaerobic digester. Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Moisture (H20), Siloxanes, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and Carbon Dioxide (C02) are removed. The end product is renewable natural gas (RNG) meeting SAE J1616 quality that is then compressed and used directly in CNG vehicles.

Unison Solutions - IC Engine/Boiler Systems

Low pressure systems condition biogas to produce fuel suitable for boilers and engine generation systems. Systems can be designed for any gas flow and for positive or negative inlet pressures. Each boiler and engine manufacturer have varying specifications for inlet pressure, in addition to hydrogen sulfide and siloxane/VOC tolerances. Depending on the location of the site, there may be exhaust catalysts for the engines, which have their own set of fuel specifications. System options are available such as after-cooling or drying. We specialize in integrating our systems with existing site equipment such as boilers, flares, or landfill gas extraction systems.

Gas Compression Systems

Using technology from the sour gas industry, we have developed a line of gas compression skids that resist the destruction caused by biogas. Our equipment has been used to fuel turbines, fuel cells and direct use biogas pipeline projects. Due to increasing maintenance issues caused by siloxanes many of our compressor skids are used in conjunction with integrated siloxane removal systems. Our compression systems use two stage condensate removal to protect not only the end use equipment but also the compressor itself. We have developed a process to remove enough moisture prior to compression to prevent condensation within the compressor. The remaining moisture is removed post‐compression where the efficiency is greater and a true pressure dew point can be achieved.

Unison Solutions - BioCNG Pipeline Injection Systems

Unison Solutions has developed systems that economically produce renewable natural gas (RNG) for injection into natural gas pipelines around the country. By using multiple-stage membranes to remove carbon dioxide and customizing the system to the designated pipeline`s unique specifications, we can produce RNG that meets or exceeds pipeline requirements.

Unison Solutions - Turbine & Fuel Cell High Pressure Systems

High pressure systems condition biogas and produce fuel to power turbines and fuel cells. These can be designed for any gas flow at pressures up to 200 psig. This same technology is used for the production of RNG as vehicle fuel or for pipeline injection. Our compression systems use a two-stage condensate removal process to protect not only the end-use equipment but also the compressor itself. We have developed a process to remove moisture prior to compression, preventing condensation within the compressor. The remaining moisture is removed post-compression, where the efficiency is greater. Our high pressure systems also include siloxane/VOC removal to meet the stringent fuel specs for these cogeneration systems. Depending on the raw biogas quality, these systems may also include hydrogen sulfide removal equipment. All of our systems utilize UL certified panels, manufactured in-house.

Unison Solutions - Regenerative Siloxane and VOC Reduction System

Regenerative Siloxane Reduction is a great option for biogas sites with high siloxane and/or VOC contamination such as landfills and wastewater plants receiving waste from manufactures of cosmetics, hygiene products, food, and industrial coatings.
