VECTRONIC - VRW Reaction Wheels

The VRW Reaction Wheels by VECTRONIC Aerospace are sophisticated actuators designed to control the rotational motion of spacecraft, leveraging over two decades of development and manufacturing experience. These reaction wheels are part of the VRW series specifically engineered for small satellite applications. They offer adjustable angular momentum ranging from 0.2 Nms to 6 Nms and feature customizable motor torque, rotor geometry, and mass specifications. At their core, these wheels utilize a 32-bit microprocessor-controlled PI-loop with a low-noise, high-efficiency four-quadrant PWM power stage. The drive electronics include comprehensive thermal and over-voltage protection circuits. Signal interfaces are standard asynchronous SCI on RS422/RS485 levels, configurable for both full and half-duplex operations with baud rates up to 1 Mbaud. Additionally, a CAN bus interface is available. The VRW line supports modularity, making it adaptable in terms of rotor geometry, input voltage range, or communication protocols. With a nominal in-orbit lifetime exceeding 45,000 hours, these wheels ensure reliability and robustness for a variety of satellite missions.
