Spring-applied, electrically released electromagnetic brake for servo motor applications
Optimal solution for when high torque is needed at high ambient temperatures within small space envelopes. This low-noise, compact servo motor brake solution is designed to reduce power consumption and heat generation. Solutions can be customized to fit most servo motor applications and can be mounted externally to easily retrofit existing machinery. These brakes have a low backlash making them ideal for precision holding applications.

Shaft Mounted Electro Clutches (EC) and Brakes (EB) provide all the features of electromagnetic clutches and brakes in a convenient, pre-packaged assembly that is properly aligned and ready to install. Offered as clutches, brakes, and clutch/brake combinations, these pre-packaged products are available in 7 sizes with torque from 15 lb.in. to 1,350 kb.ft., and can be base mounted, shaft mounted, or installed on or between C-face motors and reducers. ECs and EBs mount on any through shaft or extended motor shaft and are easy-to-assemble with standard sheaves, pulleys, gears and sprockets. Upgrade to our high-performance version, the Ceramic Electro Pak (EP-C), which contains ceramic faced wear components, providing three to five times the life of a standard EP. These units are particularly suited for high energy, high cycle rate applications.

The SLB and SOB series are shaft mounted clutch/power-on brake packages that are used to couple two parallel or in-line shafts. The clutch/brake package combines the features of our model SL or SO with an FB into one unit for easy installation. The clutch armature hub accommodates a pulley, gear, sprocket, etc., to transmit torque to the second shaft. The brake is used to stop or hold the load. The clutch/brake package is shaft mounted and retained by a loose-fitting pin or bracket through the anti-rotation tab.

The Series 54L torque limiters prevent overload damage in an installation by slipping at an adjustable preset torque. These compact units are a simple construction and are easy to adjust. Optional overload Slip Sensor can be used to detect torque overload.

Each CB Series unit is a completely self-contained, packaged clutch/brake assembly designed to start and stop a load rapidly and accurately without any cumulative error. In fact, at speeds up to 1800 rpm, loads are started and stopped within +1/2° per revolution. CB Series units are solenoid actuated with standard models available in 12, 24, or 90 VDC as well as 115 VAC configurations.

The Super CB Series is a high performance version of the standard CB Series, providing up to five times the life. The SCB Series is recommended for heavy-duty applications requiring maximum torque, high cycle rates and minimum maintenance. Like the CB Series, each Super CB Series unit is a complete, factory-assembled package, ready for installation.
