Nomex Paper is a product manufactured by DuPont. Nomex is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer that provides high levels of electrical, chemical and mechanical integrity when converted to paper and subsequent specialized parts. Its longterm resistance to high temperatures extends the life of electrical equipment, reduces premature failures and acts as a safeguard in unforeseen electrical stress situations. Outstanding electrical and mechanical properties and the lack of degradation products like water or gas are some of the additional features of Nomex fibre based products. WEIDMANN is a contractual distributor for Nomex, mainly for applications in fluid impregnated transformers. At WEIDMANN we glue, weld, slit, punch, cuff Nomex Paper into components for direct use without further conversion processes by customers.

Often applications that require higher thermal resistence also require enhanced mechanical characteristics. Meeting the requirements for these different characteristics is achieved by combining two materials in two or more layers. These laminated products are available in a wide range of variations.

Under an agreement with Innovative Paper Technologies (IPT), LLC, WEIDMANN offers a variety of products for the dry type transformer and motor/generator markets. These offerings are available in selected regions. The IPT products are manufactured from inorganic materials (mostly glass fibers and microfibers, and inorganic fillers) with a few organic binders. They are capable of longterm performance at temperatures from sub-zero to more than 250 °C. Dimensional stability and low moisture absorption are other outstanding features. Plain IPT paper is available in type CeQuin, a high inorganic content paper and in type TufQuin, a hybrid of inorganic and organic paper.

Weidmann’s InsuLogix® B bushing monitor is a cost-effective continuous on-line transformer bushing monitor system for measuring relative power factor at operating voltage in high voltage capacitive bushings and/or HV current transformers. The transformer monitor device acquires, analyses, and trends data pertaining to AC insulation power factor.
