This thermoplastic and transparent plastic is commonly called acrylic glass or simply acrylic. PMMA is often used as an alternative to glass, and in competition with polycarbonate (PC). It is often preferred on account of its moderate properties, easy handling and processing, and low cost, but behaves in a brittle manner when loaded, especially under an impact force. PMMA is now also widely used in the electronic and LCD industry.

Solar Thermal Plants use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. The concentrated light is then used as a heat source for a conventional power plant.

Solar Thermal Process Steam Systems use solar thermal technology for steam generation rather than power generation. The process steam can then be used for different industrial applications, based on the temperature generated by the system.
