Our AP1000® reactor is already proving itself every day around the globe. Currently, four units utilizing AP1000 technology are operating in China, setting performance records. Six more are under construction in China, and two AP1000 units are operating at Plant Vogtle in Georgia.

Westinghouse - Small Modular Reactor

The Westinghouse SMR is a >225 MWe integral pressurized water reactor with all primary components located inside the reactor vessel. It utilizes passive safety systems and proven components - realized in the industry-leading AP1000® reactor design - to achieve the highest level of safety and reduce the number of components required. This approach will provide licensing, construction and operation certainty that no other SMR supplier can match.

Westinghouse - Fuel Handling System

Westinghouse, through its subsidiary PaR Nuclear, Inc., has designed fuel-handling equipment that minimizes the potential for human performance (HuP) errors. It is designed to improve the physical layout of bridge and trolley structures, reduce operator stress-induced errors and provide clear sight lines to fuel. Constant improvements to actuators, software and interlocks reduce the possibility of fuel-handling errors, and the training Westinghouse technicians receive helps to maintain industry knowledge and safety standards related to the safe installation and maintenance of the fuel-handling equipment.

Westinghouse eVinci - Reactor

Westinghouse is currently developing the eVinci micro reactor, a next-generation, very small modular reactor for decentralized generation markets. The eVinci micro reactor’s innovative design is a combination of nuclear fission, space reactor technologies and 50+ years of commercial nuclear systems design, engineering and innovation. The eVinci micro reactor aims to create affordable and sustainable power with improved reliability and minimal maintenance, particularly for energy consumers in remote locations. The small size of the generator allows for easier transportation and rapid, on-site installation in contrast to large, centralized stations. The reactor core is designed to run for more than 10 years, eliminating the need for frequent refueling.
