Our finance department draws up business concepts and works with prestigious banks which have a high level of expertise in the field of renewable energies. The aim is to achieve solid finance and as lucrative a structure as possible for every single wind power project for buyers or for our own operation. For example, this includes profitability calculations and liquidity planning, in short, it means accompanying the financing of the wind farm throughout the entire finance phase.

We realised numerous projects together with regional partners at an early date in our core market of Germany – from small engineering offices to large project developers. Skills such as financing and structuring experience, planning know-how or local connections complement each other perfectly. Even today we realise new projects time and again with different planners and are able to rely on a comprehensive, diverse and live network. Thanks to business relationships of trust stretching back many years as a major customer – for example of turbine manufacturers or suppliers of electrical infrastructure as well as of banks – we are able to implement projects reliably and quickly. This is becoming increasingly important as framework conditions change ever more quickly.

wpd regularly sells onshore projects already operating in Germany but also international projects, primarily in Europe. Investors can acquire individual wind farms or even larger portfolios. Only high-quality projects are sold which have been excellently planned and implemented. Since 1998, our sister company, wpd windmanager, has been taking on all the tasks in connection with the commercial and technical management, primarily of wind farms but also of solar parks and biogas plants. wpd windmanager is the market leader in wind farm management in Germany. Thorough knowledge of the market and many years of experience with wind energy, guarantee that farms under its management run at their ideal level. Customers include fund companies, national and international investment groups as well as institutional investors. As well as in Germany, wpd windmanager is active in Belgium, France, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Canada and Taiwan.

wpd takes on the project management for the complete wind farm and coordinates the construction work with all those involved. For example with the turbine suppliers, the heavy load forwarding companies, all the relevant authorities, the land-owners and managers of the land. Our experienced construction engineers and electrical engineers are on site and take care of the design and planning of roads, power lines and foundations. At the same time, the cableworks, substations, transformer substations as well as roadworks, foundations and earthworks are put out to tender, awarded and construction management put in place. We also take over construction management in accordance with the particular state building regulations, the coordination of health and safety at work measures and we record the state of the project during every phase of construction.
