A Silent Generator, if only! YorPower can provide generators with the very lowest noise levels that are, to the average person, silent. That would be a measure of approximately 55dB(A) at 1m. However, the cost of manufacturing a generator that cannot be heard, or a ‘Silent Generator’ is so great, that in most instances it is prohibitive. The term, silent generator is over used and in fact a contradiction as the vast majority of enclosed generators are less noisy than their open frame Cousins, however, they are most certainly not silent! Typically, a generator that is attenuated and enclosed in a close fit canopy or is treated for noise breakout, would operate at about 80dB(A) at 1m. Marine Generator Sets from YorPower and designed specifically to handle the difficult marine applications combining, salt water and windy, wet conditions making standard generators wholly inadequate and inappropriate. MTU is known to be synonymous with power, performance and innovation and is one of the worlds leading providers of diesel, gas, and fuel cell systems based on diesel and gas engines. Our MTU genes start at 1000kVA and top out at 3000kVA.

ALL of our bulk fuel tanks are fully bunded, which in effect means, there is a built in catchment area (a bund) between the bulk tank steel casement that holds the fuel, and an outer layer of steel (the outside of the tank) which mechanically protects the bulk storage of fuel from damage and potential spillage. The space between the inner and outer steel is designed to hold 110% of the capacity of the bulk tank. Metal is stronger and safer when compared to plastic and provides much better protection, durability and longevity of your fuel system. The bund area should always be dry (unless the inner tank has leaked) and should ideally be fitted with an electronic bund alarm to indicate a fuel leak. A manhole or inspection chamber in the bulk fuel tank is a good idea for service and maintenance, as well as fitting additional fittings for future tap off.

Working with our specialist fabricators YorPower can provide everything from bespoke generator enclosures where noise breakout is below 60dB(A) at 1M to a basic weather protection enclosure, where noise break out is not relevant. The generator enclosure acts as a protective barrier for generators that are being housed outdoors and can be tailored to suit the local environment.
