FACTSHEET:   TVP  Solar  Test  Bench       Complete  on--site  solar  thermal  panel  test  system  up  to  200°C  A  Custom--Designed  System  Providing  Accurate  Measurements  In  Any  Location    The  Test  Bench  by  TVP  Solar   is  a  pre--sale  testing  tool  for  two  MT--Power  panels,  providing  real--time  data  in  local  operating  conditions  for  performance  assessment.  The  system  is  self--contained,  fully   automated,   records   and   analyses   several   parameters   for   precise   solar   energy   conversion  efficiency  measurements  –  additionally,   the  Test  Bench  can  directly   compare  MT--Power  panels  side--by--side  with  a  wide  variety  of  traditional  solar  thermal  collectors  between  1  and  2  m2  in  size.  A  Fully  Automated  Experience  Once  the  Test  Bench  is  set  up  at  a  client  site,  the  system  automatically  calibrates  itself  and  begins  testing  the  attached  panels  within  a  four--step  process:      At  any  stage  data  can  be  viewed  in  real--time  via  the  software  provided,  and  visualized  remotely  through  a  secure  Web  interface  –  this  allows  for  easy  system  monitoring  and  flexible  control.  System  Model  &  Components  The  Test  Bench   is  built  according  to  best  practices   for  solar   thermal  efficiency  measurement.  A  Heat   Transfer   Fluid   (HTF)   is   circulated   in   a   closed   loop   at   a   known   flow   rate   and   at   variable  temperatures,  while  heat  gains  and  solar  input  are  measured.            Physical  Characteristics  Total  Footprint   4  m2   43  ft2  Length   2  m   6.6  ft  Width   2  m   6.6  ft  Height   2  m   6.6  ft  Weight   250  kg   551  lbs  Operating  Conditions  Maximum  Fluid  Temperature  200  °C   392  °F  Max  Fluid  Pressure  1  bar   14  psi  Max  AC  Power*   0.7  kW    *Heaters  not  included  Climate Conditions Determined System Starts & Fluid Flows Heat Gains and Solar Input Recorded Panel Efficiency is Calculated TVP Solar SA Place du Bourg-de-Four 36 1204 Geneva Switzerland www.tvpsolar.com Thermal Vacuum Power from the Sun © 2011 TVP Solar SA all rights reserved. Temperature  is  precisely  stabilized  by  means  of  a  combination  of  PID--driven  electric  heater  and  fan--cooled  heat  exchanger.  Wind  speed  and  ambient  temperature  are  measured  just  above  the  panel  head.  An  automatic  protective  shield  can  be  installed  as  additional  security  against  hail  or  sand  storms.  The  Test  Bench  can  be  ordered  also  in  an  extended  version  holding  up  to  four  MT--Power  panels  (or  other  products  of  similar  dimensions).  A  version  using  pressurized  water  (up  to  16  bar)  as  HTF  exists  too.  System  Control  The  Test  Bench  can  be  operated  remotely  via  Microsoft  Windows™  Remote  Desktop  Protocol  or  equivalent  (e.g.  TeamViewer™).  The  LabView™--based  control  interface  is  simple  yet  powerful  and  allows  operation  in  both  automatic  and  manual  modes.    Real--time  data  can  be  visualized  via  a  secure  Web  interface  on  any  compatible  device*.  Historical  data   are   stored   locally   and   transferred   remotely   via   email   or   datasockets.   Remote   system  control,   Web   interface   and   datasocket   data   transfer   require   xDSL   or   3G   wireless   internet  connections.  Software  Package  Test   Bench   customers   can   be   provided   with   a   software   package   to   analyze   data   off--line.   The  package  will  calculate  the  panel  energy  output,  compare  it  with  predictions  from  manufacturer’s  documentation  and  cumulate  results  over  extended  periods  of  time.    Alternatively  data  can  be  analyzed  on--line  directely  from  TVP  Solar  Web  site  via  a  custom  portal  with  dedicated  database  queries*.  *Requires  subscription  to  TVP  Solar  web  services
