Until 2015, more than 2000 megawatts of power from solar energy alone shall be generated through various projects in Morocco. Renewables are expected to provide 35% of electricity in the country by 2040. EneR Event 2011 is Morocco’s top specialist international trade fair, which brings together in one event all the fields pertaining to renewable energy generation, transmission and distribution. At EneR Event 2011, leading technology suppliers meet senior-level buyers, wholesalers, retailers, designers, planners and architects from all over Morocco and French-speaking African countries to learn, network and to do business. EneR Event 2011 is the No. 1 event for Morocco’s renewable energy business community. All Moroccan and international leaders are expected to be at the start, when EneR Event will open its doors as massive investments are being realised in the country. ener event 2011: the preMier internAtionAL reneWAbLe energy AnD energy eFFiciency trADe FAir MAssiVe inVestMents Moroccan plants may help deliver the clean energy needed over there. The plan is to boost energy exports and meet growing demand, both at home and abroad. Achieving a sustainable energy mix for the future requires greater resource efficiency, innovative energy technologies and, increasingly, the equal integration of renewable and conventional energy sources. Energy efficiency, security of supply and renewables ever more become critical success factors for entire industries and countries. The Desertec and the Transgreen projects target a sustainable supply of electricity for the European Union (EU) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) up to the year 2050. With an estimated investment of Euro 400 billion over fourty years, thirty Solar Thermal Power (CSP) plants shall be erected in the Sahara in order to establish, by 2050, a capacity of 100 GW of exportable solar power in MENA. The objective being to cover 15% of the energy needs of the European Union and the majority of the needs of the MENA countries. the Desertec AnD the trAnsgreen projects A combination of rising population, ambitious housing programmes, projects such as metros and railway electrification, and the growth of desalination and energy- intensive industries means that demand for electricity is expected to continue growing rapidly in Morocco. Forecasts envisage annual average consumption growth of between 5 and 9% until 2020, excluding any electricity exports. Dramatic capacity increases are therefore needed. Morocco’s massive investment programme includes several billion US $ for the expansion of the electricity industry and for the erection of solar- hybrid and wind-energy power plants. Morocco is looking for a close partnership with the European Union and their neighbours in the Maghreb so that Morocco MoVing FAst toWArDs the cLeAn energy Mix oF the Future gerMAny is guest oF honour in 2011 Germany is the Guest of Honour of EneR Event 2011. This was agreed by the CEO of the German-Moroccan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Maroc), Mr. Marco Wiedemann, and Mr. Martin März, the managing director of fairtrade. As one of Morocco’s most important trading partners, Germany’s presentation as Guest of Honour contributes to further develop this comfortable position. According to ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, German exports of electro-technology to Morocco reached Euro 237.7 million in 2008. On the occasion of EneR Event 2011, German exhibitors will present their innovations in the fields of modern, efficient and sustainable infrastructure in power generation, transmission and distribution as a part of the German pavilion organised by fairtrade. Furthermore, great emphasis will be put on the “German Day”, where representatives of German enterprises and institutions will present their outstanding variety of leading-edge technologies within the conference “Sharp Focus on Energy Efficiency”, to be realised in partnership between the Moroccan government, international institutions, exhibitors and the organisers. Germany, being the global leader in the renewable energy sector and producing 30 % of the world’s wind energy technology, exported renewables’ technology worth Euro 9 billion in 2007. The renewable energy industry is one of Germany’s most important growth markets, employing - in 2008 - 278 000 people, covering 15.1 % of German electricity consumption, 7.3 % of thermal usage and 5.9 % of fuel consumption. germany guest of honour exhibition progrAM “inteLLigent soLutions For the Future’s energy Mix” Rapidly rising demand for electricity and the question of future energy supply security rank among global priorities.
