EQ 3720RM Relay Module - Specification Brochure
DESCRIPTIONThe 8 Channel Relay Module is specially designed toexpand the Output capability of the Det-Tronics EagleQuantum Premier™ System. The unit is designed to provide eight relay outputchannels for use with non-supervised devices (PLCs,fans, dampers, motor control centers, etc.) or deviceswith their own supervision.System status can be determined using the trouble-shooting procedures, Eagle Quantum Safety SystemSoftware (S3) and the status indicators on the module.LED INDICATORSLEDs on the front panel of the relay module areprovided for indicating device status. The LED’s aretested upon power-up to verify their operation. The relay module has two LEDs for the device andtwo LEDs for each channel. On the device level, onegreen LED indicates power, while the other amberLED indicates a LON communication fault. For eachchannel, one red LED indicates channel activationand the other amber LED indicates that the moduleoperating voltage is low or that the module has notbeen configured (all eight channel LEDs blink).MOUNTINGThe relay module is DIN rail or direct panel mountablefor configurations requiring installation in NEMA or IPenclosures. DIN rail and mounting clip options must bespecified at the t ime of order. Refer to the“Specifications” section for mounting arrangements anddimensions.SPECIFICATION DATAEagle Quantum™ Premier8 Channel Relay ModuleEQ3720RM2.2 ©Detector Electronics Corporation 2004 8/04 90-1181DET-TRONICS®FEATURES• Expands the output capabilities of the Det-TronicsEagle Quantum Premier™ system• Individual channel LEDs indicate Active status• Provides remote output capabilities via LON/SLC• Panel or DIN rail mounting• Power LED display • Plug-in wiring connectors• RFI and EMI hardened (CE Marked)• Programmable normally energized/de-energizedcontacts• Programmable failed state on loss ofcommunication with controller (Fail on / Fail off /Hold last state).SPECIFICATIONSPOWER REQUIREMENTS— 3 watts nominal, 4 watts maximum. Theenclosure must provide space to install and wire therelay module and must also provide for ground wiretermination. Access into the enclosure must begained by using a special tool to open the enclosure. The enclosure should be rated for the temperaturerange of the location plus the temperature rise of allequipment installed inside the enclosure. Theenclosure must be rated for electrical equipment thatis going to be installed.NOTEIt is recommended to maintain a minimum of 4inches clearance between the module and otherequipment to provide adequate room for wiringand ventilation.WIRINGAll electrical connections are made to the field wiringconnectors furnished with the module. (Connectorsaccept up to a single 12 AWG wire.) Refer to Figure 2for identification of module wiring terminals.Connector P1, Terminals 1 to 624 Vdc Power Input1 — +2 — –3 — Shield*4 — +5 — –6 — Shield**Shields on power wires are optional unless requiredby local codes.Connect the module power supply to terminals 1 and2. See Figure 2.CONFIGURATIONSetting Relay Module Network AddressOne unique network address must be assigned toeach relay module. The address is set by the 8switch DIP assembly on the relay module. When using the switches located on the relay module, the address is binary coded and is the sum of allswitches placed in the “closed” position. Each discrete point of a relay module has a tagnumber and a descriptor for unique identification.Det-Tronics S3 Safety System Software is used fordevice configuration.
