Hydro Power Datasheet
Hydro power opportunities for landownersThe Infinis group (“Infinis”) has developed and operates over 10% of the UK’s <5MW hydro power capacity. We are actively seeking new opportunities for hydro development across Great Britain. If you own part of a river or stream that you feel may be suitable for a hydroelectricity scheme then please contact us for a no obligation and free hydro energy feasibility assessment.Infinis has many years of experience working in partnership with landowners, from small farms to large estates. There are no outgoings for landowners at any stage of the process. Once constructed and operating, landowners benefit from a secure long-term income.Infinis has the experience and expertise to progress a project successfully through the planning system in the shortest possible time.We understand the sensitivities of hydro energy development and operation and therefore seek to consult with and involve the local community whenever we propose a hydro scheme. Our key strengths8 A leading renewable energy generator in the UK8 Established hydro scheme development track record 8 Experienced, multi-disciplined team8 Quick progression to consent, construction and operation8 Stakeholder engagement8 Community consultationSite selectionOur evaluation and risk assessment covers many criteria including:8 Hydro energy availability and potential scheme size (a function of river flow and fall)8 Availability and capacity of electrical grid connection8 National and Local Designated Landscapes8 Recreational and other users of the river such as anglers and canoeists8 Ecological sensitivitiesLegal agreementsAccess and Exclusivity Agreement Once we have established that the site is viable we will invite a landowner to sign an Access and Exclusivity Agreement. We would expect this agreement to run for up to two years, giving us time to undertake initial assessments/surveys. During this period we will agree the commercial terms and prepare an Option for Lease Agreement. A fee is payable to a landowner on signing of the Access and Exclusivity Agreement.Option for Lease AgreementThis process begins with the development of heads of terms which provides the framework for the Option for Lease Agreement. The landowner receives payment under the Option for Lease Agreement and is paid rent under the lease once this is entered into. The reasonable costs of both legal and land agents are also paid by Infinis.Potential income streamsOnce the hydro scheme is operating, a landowner will receive a rental income.Note that, at the early stages of the project, it is impossible to give firm numbers regarding potential landowner income associated with a hydro scheme although these will be agreed before a planning application is made.Next stepsPlease let us know if you are a landowner interested in working with Infinis on a renewable energy project. If you have any questions or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Infinis team. The Infinis development process for landownersInitial assessment and consultationRiver flow measurementInitial design in consultation with landowner(s)Infinis involvementAccess and Exclusivity AgreementLandowner involvementEnvironmental surveys, flow rate analysis and further consultation with key stakeholdersFinal design Option for Lease AgreementEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA)Planning application submittedPlanning committee determinationContracting, financing, grid connection Lease AgreementConstruction25-40 years of operationDecommissioning or possible new applicationContacts Ewan Campbell-Lendrum E hydro@infinis.comInfinis First Floor, 500 Pavilion Drive Northampton Business Park Northampton NN4 7YJ T +44 (0) 1604 662 400 F +44 (0) 1604 662 468Infinis Napier House 27 Thistle Street Edinburgh EH2 1DY T +44 (0) 0131 243 1380www.infinis.com
