They performed insulation services for over 70,632 ft2 in 9 months, while delivering more than 58,000 accident free labor hours. The efficiency of our insulation crew was supported by the metal department who, with help of our suppliers, were able to expedite the completion date by procuring key components off-site.A MAJOR GULF REFINERYKEEPHILLS POWER PLANT UNIT 3©2012 Brand Services, LLC All Rights Reserved.www.beis.comUnited StatesAn aggressive 28-day schedule-which was already two shifts behind-was projected, and required a 20,000 man-hour expenditure to remove existing insulation from four coke drums (each 22 ft x 85 ft tall), while they were in service, to be replaced with a new floating panel system. This was an implementation of unique technology. The new insulation design was a floating ring, standing seam panel system, designed to flex with the expansion and contraction of the coke drums. The panel system consisted of prefabricated, pre-insulated panels with a stainless steel jacket.The main keys to success were safety and detailed preplanning. On top of presenting the hazardous risk of potential falling objects overhead. The existing insulation system showed extensive deterioration, requiring a creative dismantling approach. Brand showcased their commitment to resources and innovative use of technology, with the innovative flex insulation system, along with their scaffold, designed to handle weight loads, staging of materials and personnel access.
