Many forms of energy that we have grown dependent on are from non-renewable energy sources. This means that when the energy has been consumed, the supply has gone and cannot be replaced. An example of this is coal. Coal is known as a fossil fuel and is the largest source of energy for the generation of electricity worldwide. When coal has been mined and burnt, it cannot be replaced. Finding alternative energy sources, ideally from renewable sources, will decrease our dependency on fossil fuels and other non-renewable energy sources. Solar Power : Solar power is a popular form of renewable energy. Solar panels can be used to provide electricity on a small scale to homes to supplement the electricity supply from the national grid or can be used to power whole towns. Solar panels are dependent on sunlight, however new technolo-gies are being developed that increase the sensitivity of the panels so that they can generate energy on cloudy days as well as in bright sunshine. In addition to solar panels, other ways of producing energy from sunlight are becoming popular. These include solar shingles and solar roof tiles. Solar power is useful in a variety of other ways, for instance it is ideal for powering garden lights or water features. ? Steinbeis partners with 2E Knowledge Ventures Pvt. Ltd.. & ADS Projects & Systems Pvt. Ltd. to avail MNRE subsidy for Solar Power Projects as a Channel Partner of MNRE. Steinbeis also partners with Smart Energy International AG, Germany to access the German expertise for design, engineering, installation, commissioning, operation and mainte-nance of Solar PV Power Plants from 1KW to MW range. The experience involves setting up of Solar Power Plants for 4 Schools (2kW – 5kW) in Hyderabad, 100 kW System at Shobhit University Meerut, 10kW System for Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute for Engineering & Technology at Hydera-bad, and many more projects from 10kW – 5MW range across many coun-tries. Pilot School Solar Project:This is a part of Mega City Project of the Ger-man Government. It concentrates on the reduction in energy consumption by using Solar Power in schools, which not only reduces the electricity bill but also makes us self sufficient power producers. Due to power shortage in present scenario we have to depend on alternative source of power, solar power is the best replacement where the fuel (Sun Energy) is freely avail-able. The solar power system requires less maintenance and has a long life of over 20-25 Years. This will be a great opportunity for the faculty and students to learn about the real time solar power application. As a part of this project, Steinbeis has also developed training material for the faculty and students of the schools implementing Solar Power Plants. Always focused on the actual benefits of transfer, our success lies in the value-added for our client. Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer, India (SCTI) is a Technology Transfer Network Centre of Steinbeis Foundation, Germany, with its office at Hyderabad, India. It is a part of Global network connecting more than 900 Centres not just in Europe, but also in other countries like China, Russia and Singapore. Each Centre specializes in its own stream of technology and has excellent resources in terms of laboratories and expert faculty. Hence the industry interested to outsource its technology development work with an institution does it at a fraction of cost involved – that if it were to borne the entire cost of its own. This is further backed by enormous knowledge resources, which can be assessed by each Centre by networking with its peer institutions within the Steinbeis network globally. The STCI provides its expertise in terms of contract and project management so as to provide the services in the most professional manner. The services of STCI are available not just by the traditional way of technology development and transfer, STCI Centres shall also provide services in the field of outsourcing, consulting and execu-tive and vocational (technical) training. The turnover of Steinbeis in 2012 was 134 Million Euros (approx. Rs. 900 Crores). Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer, India (SCTI) is managed by Technopreneurs with wide experience in handling technology transfer, commercialisation, certifications, training, research reports, international business, organising seminars and networking between industry and acade-mia. SCTI is involved in Solar PV Training & Further Education, Solar Projects Engineering & Evalua-tion Consulting & Technology Transfer for Solar Inverters.
