A Long Inspired History

Matthews Environmental Solutions has been continuously redefining the future of cremation since its founding in 1946. Our company began as Industrial Equipment Engineering (IEE), partnering with ALL Crematory (ALL) brand equipment, forming the Matthews Cremation Division.

Since our company’s inception, it has represented the standard of excellence in technology, repair, and customer care within the cremation industry. With over 5,000 installations in over 70 countries, covering all 7 continents; our leadership, expertise, and total commitment to our client`s success are the reasons why funeral professionals around the world have chosen us as their premier partner for cremation solutions.

In 2008, Giust Environmental Machinery (GEM), founded by the Giust family in Udine, Italy, became part of the Matthews International family, adopting the new name GEM Matthews. For over 25 years, GEM has been the leading designer and manufacturer of state-of-art Cremation Equipment, Flue Gas Treatment, Heat Recovery, and Mercury Abatement Systems throughout Europe for both Public & Private institutions.

In 2010, Furnace Construction Company (FCC), founded by the Hough family in Manchester, United Kingdom joined Matthews and strengthened our ability to meet the growing demands for cremation equipment, filtration, and abatement systems in the United Kingdom.

In 2012, TodaySure, founded by the Schofield family in Hyde, United Kindom merged into Matthews to expand our involvement in the incineration industry in order to become a total solutions provider.

2015 brought about the transformation of our identity from a cremation-only focused group to an environmental solutions provider, updating our name to Matthews Environmental Solutions to reflect this change.

In 2018, the Matthews Environmental family grew further with the addition of Therm-Tec. With a 40 year history in incineration and cremation equipment, Therm-Tec is another wonderful addition.

Each of our divisions plays an important role as we continue to transform the cremation industry with innovative, state-of-the-art products and service. Collectively we have a single goal, a passion for the success of our clients, and the development of environmentally responsible cremation solutions worldwide.

1946
Our company began as Industrial Equipment Engineering (IEE), partnering with ALL Crematory (ALL) brand equipment.

1996
IEE and ALL Crematory became a part of the Matthews International family and renamed Matthews Cremation Division.

2008
Giust Environmental Machinery (GEM) joined the Matthews Cremation Division family, thus adopting the name GEM Matthews.

2010
Furnace Construction Company (FCC) also joined the Matthews team in order to meet the growing cremation demands in the United Kingdom.

2012
TodaySure merged into Matthews to expand our involvement in the incineration industry.

2015
Matthews Cremation Divison became Matthews Environmental Solutions.

2018
Therm-Tec joined the Matthews Environmental family.
