Opposed to brazed and gasketed plate heat exchangers mainly used in heating and refrigeration, the VAU-Bloc uses neither copper solder nor gaskets. Therefore the VAU-Bloc can be used at very high temperature or in corrosive media. The VAU-Bloc with its compact dimensions delivers high heat transfer performance and low pressure loss.Corrosion resistant material – as long as it displays good forming and welding procedures – can be used. The fl ow-channels can be cleaned by water-, air- and steam-jet as well as chemical agents. As it is divided into several fl ow paths (cross counter current) the VAU-Bloc can adapt to a diversity of tasks. FEATURES & APPLICATIONS The fl ow connectors are not located on the heat exchange plate, as is the case with common models. Instead, they are welded onto the removable cover plates. The nozzle-size therefore only depends on the width of the unit, the height of the stack or the desired number of fl ow passes.The different plate structures, plate sizes, the varying amount of plates as well as the amount of fl ow passes allow for customization of the clear fl ow cross-section and fl ow length according to what the circumstances demand. Different fl ow rates can be made to ideally fi t the fl ow conditions thanks to the variability of baffl es on the primary- and secondary side.Later on, removing or inserting baffl es makes adapting to new operational conditions easy.The compact layout allows for low material consumption, thereby decreasing the unit‘s weight. Furthermore, a low hold-up is necessary, which, together with the thin walls, constitutes an effi cient and responsive control behaviour. Depending on necessity and the intended application the removable pressure plates can be plated with stainless steel sheets. Thereby all parts in contact with media are made from stainless steel and all pressurized parts are produced using carbon steel. Thus the medium passing through is isolated and force-fed to the pressure retaining container. Therefore the use of high-quality material is economically feasible. The easily removable caps allow free access to the fully welded plate-stack, e.g. for cleaning and maintenance.
