Why Turkey?
Between now and 2023, Turkey’s energy ministry puts the requisite investment volume at around USD 130 billion, the biggest single chunk of which – some USD 33 billion – has been earmarked for additional hydropower generation capacity. Other big-ticket items include wind and solar energy plants, coal-fired and nuclear power stations, gasfired power stations and electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. These sums testify to the enormous scale of Turkey’s commitment to expanding and future proofing its energy sector.
