- Gastech Conference & Exhibition - 2015
The event is now in its 43rd year, and dates back to 1972, when the original event was launched in London to bring together technical decision makers involved in LNG and LPG shipping. Gastech has since evolved and now brings together the commercial and technical communities from the global energy supply chain. Held every 18 months in a different international location, it is our great pleasure to now gather the international gas community from 27 to 30 October 2015 at the Singapore EXPO in Singapore.
Why Gastech Singapore?
The strategic centre of east-west trade for more than 200 years, Singapore is well placed to play host to Gastech 2015. Home to the world’s fourth largest financial centre, it boasts a vibrant energy sector which already accounts for over 5% of its gross domestic product. The Singapore government has also opened up the gas and LNG trading market to competition, welcoming new aggregators and originators of gas into the picture. Singapore is a world leader in oil refining and storage, but has ambitious plans to now develop the state as a major energy hub for the gas and LNG industries – allowing shipping, trading and storage to thrive. By bringing Gastech to Singapore for the very first time, the natural gas and LNG industries finally connect at the heart of South East Asia’s energy epicentre – at a crucial time in the state’s development plans to become a leading energy hub.

With plenty of face-to-face networking, comprehensive conference sessions and excellent social functions, the Gastech 2015 Conference brings innovation, discussion and inspiration by connecting the commercial and technical players together under one roof.
Gastech is an independently run event and has been serving the needs of the gas industry for over 42 years. Our delegates, exhibitors and showfloor visitors cite it as the number one place to do business as well as keep up to date on the latest technologies and to share ideas.
Every major international oil company is present, plus a multitude of national oil companies, global utility companies, engineering contractors, ship builders, manufacturers, distributors and service providers making it the ideal place to learn and network.
The Gastech Governing Body is made up of a senior, select group of industry professionals, representing the full global gas & LNG supply chains – commercially as well as technically. The heritage of some members goes back 40 years and Gastech is proud that its conference is developed and run purely by the industry, for the industry. With no political agenda or obligation to any over-arching organisations, Gastech’s Governing Body is free to advise and select the very best possible content for the conference agenda.
The Responsibility of our Members
Members of Gastech’s Governing Body drive each edition’s conference agenda from the session themes, to the plenary speakers, concluding with the papers voted on and selected for the final programme. The process is completely democratic and members vote on chosen themes and on conference papers, which then either make it through to final selection or are rejected (or considered for other presentation opportunities). It is a prestigious and critical role as the votes and decisions made by the Governing Body determine the full outcome of each edition’s conference agenda.
Members also help the organising team seek out and encourage the very best papers to be submitted by the global gas & LNG industries, reaching out to their networks and ensuring a well-balanced and highly-representative programme is delivered.
Duties of our Members
Apart from reaching out to the best possible industry speakers, members duties essentially include assessing and then voting through the very best abstracts from the submissions we receive in order to achieve a first-class conference programme.
Members then vote on the hundreds of short abstracts received and then grade them on their suitability, depending on the session they have been submitted under. Grading is thorough, fair and carefully undertaken to ensure a broad and accurate perspective as possible is achieved with all votes – thus negating any fears of bias or favouritism towards specific speakers.
Competition for conference speaking opportunities is always stiff – we find that for every one paper that makes the grade and is successfully accepted onto the final programme, around seven others are rejected. It is the duty of the Governing Body to deliver the best possible, most round programme for the global community who attend.
With a 43% increase on the 2014 showfloor there are even more opportunities for our exhibitors to reach new customers and connect with existing ones.
We`ve also increased opportunities to network and do business, with 25 official networking functions, a new meeting room village and opportunities to connect before and during the event with our matchmaking app.
