Event Overview
Wind is now the fastest growing energy source in the world, and has recently been a hotbed of innovation and unprecedented ambition. The WindEurope Conference & Exhibition is the ideal occasion for industry insiders to:
- expand their knowledge base,
- make the contacts they need and
- solidify an industry-wide vision for the future of the wind sector
For three days this November, Amsterdam will become the epicentre for knowledge exchange, thought-leadership and debate in the wind energy sector.
35 conference sessions covering 8 topics will keep attendees up to speed with the latest innovations and insights relevant to every aspect of the wind sector, including market developments, supply chain, turbine technology, and much more.
The exhibition will give major players in the wind industry the chance to benefit from exclusive networking opportunities. Confirmed exhibitors already include leading industry players such as Siemens-Gamesa, Senvion, Vestas and Prysmian Group.
There has never been a more dynamic time to get involved in the wind sector.
Conference Science & Research
WindEurope Conference 2017 will feature around 35 sessions over three full days. In response to requests from participants to shorten the event, this will be the first edition of three days in length, as opposed to three-and-a-half as in previous years.
The conference will open with high-level politicians and C-level industry leaders debating industry trends and outlook. This will be followed by a comprehensive programme of parallel session featuring general and scientific presentations relating to onshore and offshore wind energy on the topics listed below.
List of topics
- Onshore and offshore turbine technology
- Resource assessment onshore and offshore
- Supply chain, logistics and O&M on land and at sea
- Integrating wind power into the electricity market
- Health & safety on land and at sea
- Environmental impacts, social acceptance & planning on land and at sea
- Financing onshore and offshore wind energy
A programme developed “for the sector, by the sector”
Here’s how stakeholders from the wind sector will help create the programme, in line with the association’s event motto: “for the sector, by the sector”. The overriding objective is to ensure the best possible value for money through an open call for abstracts and peer review. As opposed to events put on by commercial organisers, speaking slots are not for sale!
Stage 1: Call for general and scientific abstracts
Deadline on 2 July 2017 – deadline extended to 7 July
The call is open to all stakeholders worldwide. To ensure that your organisation makes the most of these opportunities, please pass this information to relevant colleagues.
Looking for the full information on the topics in the general and scientific call for abstracts?
Stage 2: Abstract review
14 July – 20 August 2017
Peer review by members of WindEurope and the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) who score abstracts in their field of expertise. This helps topic leaders build a high-quality programme and keep commercial content out! We’ve extended the review considerably to take account of the holiday period.
If your organisation is a member of WindEurope and you would like to take part in the review, email conference@windeurope.org by 31 May.
Stage 3: Programme & presenters confirmed
Mid-September 2017
At the programme meeting at the beginning of September topic leaders build their session proposals based on the highest scoring abstracts. WindEurope will then publish the final programme schedule and invite those selected to give oral and poster presentations.
