China installing more coal-fired boilers and FGD than ROW combined

China continues to plan, install and operate more coal-fired boilers and flue gas desulfurization systems than the rest of the world (ROW) combined. The comprehensive McIlvaine Chinese Utility Plans in English and Chinese document the specific project activity.

Most of the new plants are ultra super critical (USC) with the latest air pollution control equipment. Also older plants are being upgraded with FGD systems. As shown below, one plant is replacing older FGD scrubbers with 98 percent efficient units.
