Dexma Grows by 20% and Consolidates with more than 10,000 Customers in 35 Countries
Barcelona, 22 December 2022 -- Dexma, provider of energy management solutions for buildings, retail and industry, expects to close the year with a turnover of 4.3 million euros, a figure that represents an increase of 20% over the previous year. The Catalan company, which since 2020 is part of the technology firm Spacewell – integrated in the multinational Nemetschek – has managed to become, from Barcelona, the energy hub of the group.
Dexma offers intelligent tools based on artificial intelligence and data, which allow companies to analyse and optimise their energy consumption. In a global context marked by rising energy prices, during 2022 the company has experienced a 24% increase in the sale of software licenses, and has continued to expand its customer portfolio, both nationally and internationally. Dexma currently offers its solutions to more than 10,000 companies in 35 different countries, in sectors such as real estate, banking and retail. In this sense, and as a result of the company’s international vocation, nearly 60% of its turnover already comes from international clients, with the United Kingdom, France, Italy and the Benelux region as its main markets abroad.
From Barcelona to the World
Dexma was founded in Barcelona in 2007 by a group of computer engineers: Joan Pinyol, Guillem Corominas and Xavier Orduña. In 2020 the company began a new phase when it was acquired by Spacewell, a company owned by Nemetschek Group, a leading global software company for the design, construction and operation of buildings, and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. As part of the acquisition process, Dexma has been integrated into Spacewell’s product portfolio over the last few years, thus covering a larger market segment and further strengthening its international projection.
In this way, the company has consolidated its position as Spacewell’s global energy hub. From a global perspective, and together with the development of its energy management software, Dexma also works to disseminate the social, economic and environmental benefits of a more efficient use of energy, through tools such as best practice guides or online training.
A reflection of the company’s growth is the increase in the number of customers, which in 2020 was 4,000 and now, in 2022, rises to 10,000. This expansion has also been matched by an increase in the number of employees, which has risen from 45 in 2020 to around 70 today, 40% of whom are women. Likewise, and as part of the strategic plan for the coming year, Dexma plans to continue expanding its workforce with new professional profiles, especially in the R&D area. Constant innovation is one of the key pillars of the organisation’s growth strategy and, for this reason, more than 40% of the team is focused on the design and development of innovative solutions that respond to the different needs of customers all over the world.
Joan Pinyol explains: “The integration with Spacewell and Nemetschek Group has allowed us to go a step further, and offer our clients more tools to manage their buildings and workspaces efficiently, helping to reduce their operating costs. With digitalisation and constant innovation at the forefront, we will continue to work to further reimagine the relationship we have as a society with energy consumption and, in doing so, help build a more sustainable and efficient future for all.”
Artificial Intelligence to Increase Energy Efficiency
Dexma’s data-driven solutions enable detailed reporting of energy consumption, analysing usage patterns and detecting anomalies and potential inefficiencies in real time. The use of data, artificial intelligence and digital solutions can simplify or even automate key operational processes, making building management more practical, efficient and sustainable. On average, it is estimated that Dexma’s tools can drive a reduction in energy consumption of up to 20%.
Joan Pinyol, co-founder and CEO of Dexma, said: “For organisations, reducing energy costs is no longer just an option; it is an urgent necessity that has become indispensable if they want to remain competitive. It is a challenge that has implications for all organisations.
