[Embrace green hydrogen] Pure hydrogen Fuel Cell Combined Heat & Power Solution Comes
Recently, HuaDe Hydrogen’s 5kWe pure hydrogen fuel cell cogeneration system (Model No. CarNeu-5) was successfully developed. It will be delivered to the northwest of China and applied for a project including PV, water hydrogen production - hydro-hydrogenation - power generation - heating integration project. The physical product diagram is shown in Figure 1. CarNeu-5 system is a pure hydrogen fuel cell heat & power cogeneration equipment. Through electrochemical reaction, hydrogen(H2) reacts with air(O2) to generate direct current, which is further inverted to be alternating current and sent to the grid for users. Waste heat during system working is recovered and supplied to users in the form of hot water. The generated power of the whole system is 5000W, 380VAC, three-phase, on-grid. The thermal power of this system is > 4500W, supporting output 50-60? hot water. The rated net power generation efficiency of the whole system is > 47% and the highest net power generation efficiency is > 53%. The system adopts the classic shape design. Compared with the H2ES-5 with natural gas reformer, the volume of CarNeu-5 is reduced by nearly 1/2. The detailed system parameters are shown in Table 1.

CarNeu-5 pure hydrogen fuel cell cogeneration system follows GB/T 27748 series standards, are is designed and used following technologies:
l Special fuel cell stack of low-pressure power generation
The CarNeu-5 system uses a low-pressure low-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack. Different from vehicle fuel cell stack, this stack adopts enhanced proton exchange membrane and optimized membrane electrode, which effectively reduces the speed of membrane degradation and the loss of catalyst, greatly extends the service life of the stack, and meets the life requirements of long time power generation conditions. In addition, the catalyst of the membrane electrode is designed to resist the CO poisoning shock of 0-10ppm for a long time, and the voltage is stable, which improves the redundancy of the system under the power generation condition. In addition, the stack can work with mixed gas, such as 75% hydrogen and 25% carbon dioxide mixture.
Small Flow Hydrogen Cycle Process
Hydrogen cycling unit specially developed for small flow hydrogen cycling is integrated in CarNeu-5 system. The optimized cycling algorithm can effectively improve the utilization rate of hydrogen (avoid dangerous direct row or direct row after oxidation) and improve the efficiency of power generation. The circulating device is designed with low power consumption, which also effectively reduces the impact on the net power generation and efficiency of the system. The highest measured power generation efficiency can reach 53.7%, and the overall system efficiency is more than 90%. The efficiency rate of the whole machine is shown in Figure 3.
High Safety Design
CarNeu-5 system adopts PLC control. Multiple safety chains are designed, multiple hydrogen detectors and smoke detectors are integrated in the internal and external environment of the fuel cell, and a number of safety response functions are set in the program. When abnormal operating conditions such as over-temperature, over-pressure, and low pressure occur inside the system, or abnormal conditions such as leakage and fire occur outside the system, the system will carry out warning and automatically stop when necessary to ensure the safety of system operation. In addition, the fuel cell stack adopts low-pressure design. The operation pressure is only 8-14kpa, which reduces the pressure of the pipeline and the stack, greatly improves the safety of the fuel cell stack, and minimizes the risk of hydrogen leakage.
