Fit for direct electricity marketing - that`s what the three latest biogas plants projects of EnviTec Biogas AG are. The company based in the Lohne in Lower Saxony is setting up three plants with an electrical power of 526 kW each for KTG Energie AG in Groß Tessin and Brenz in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and in Perleberg in Brandenburg. With these plants, KTG Energie which is based in Hamburg has increased its production capacity to more than 40 MW.

"We are proud that we could complete the work in the stipulated time in spite of the long winter", said EnviTec Project Manager, Roland Kurney: the plants in Groß Tessin and Perleberg were connected to the grid after just three months, at the end of the second quarter. The third plant in Brenz in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania will be in its filling and warming-up phase shortly, said the expert. The plants are primarily mainly with catch crops and liquid manure. Here, KTG Agrar AG provides the substrate. As parent company of KTG Energie, the company cultivates more than 39,000 hectares in Germany and Lithuania and is thus one of the leading agricultural companies in Europe.

All of the three EnviTec plants are technically equipped with a double membrane roof. "The capacity for the storable energy carriers biogas can thus be increased from 500 to 2500 cubic metres", said Jürgen Tenbrink, Technical Head of EnviTec Biogas. The increasing use of biogas is an important component in the energy turnaround, especially in Germany. Biogas, as a renewable and versatile raw material, can make a significant contribution to safe and environment-friendly energy supply for the production of electricity, heat and fuel. Biogas can be stored or supplied to the natural gas grid and is thus especially flexible.
