Dec. 14, 2011

FlexEnergy, a clean technology company with the breakthrough solution to generate clean energy with near-zero emissions from waste gas streams including landfills, has seen incredible growth this year. Based in Irvine, CA, the company bought Ingersoll-Rand`s struggling Energy Systems business in Portsmouth, NH one year ago and achieved a dramatic turnaround since then. The company now employs 70 people in Portsmouth, 25 of which were hired in the last few months. The location specializes in manufacturing environmentally-friendly microturbines, microturbine systems and recuperators.

Currently, FlexEnergy has operations in New Hampshire, North Carolina and California, employing 130 people, with customers and installations worldwide. The company`s first commercial deployment of their Flex Powerstation? technology was recently installed at the Department of Defense`s Fort Benning, Ga. Army Base. In September, the Santiago Canyon landfill in Southern California selected Flex to install and operate a one megawatt system there to generate electricity from methane gas.

Demand for the solution keeps growing, and in turn the company continues to expand their facilities. The Portsmouth manufacturing operation will soon grow by another building. Walter Schindler, Managing Partner of SAIL Capital, Flex`s primary investor, noted, "FlexEnergy is a powerful job-creation engine in New Hampshire and we anticipate that the company will have a similarly positive impact on job growth in other states. At a time when our economy is going through fits and spurts, cleantech companies like FlexEnergy are an important driver in getting the country back on track."
