Honeywell this week announced that SECO Energy, a not-for-profit electric utility based in Florida and the seventh largest cooperative in the U.S., will be the first to use Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Utilities to help automate and modernize its grid assets. The integration of software from SparkMeter, a global provider of grid management solutions, into the Honeywell Forge platform is also designed to allow SECO Energy to proactively manage its distribution and better align rates with energy costs.

"As we face increasing demand in our service territory, we need better visibility into our grid - both financially and operationally - to maximize the performance of our distribution infrastructure," said Ben Dawson, COO of SECO Energy. "The Honeywell platform with the SparkMeter application delivers the on-demand insights we need to make better investment decisions and more efficiently use our resources to minimize the economic impact of the changing energy landscape on our customers."

Honeywell notes that its Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Utilities utilizes advanced analytics to empower utilities with enhanced operational insights while introducing predictive analytics to better balance loads on distribution systems. The platform is designed to unify data by merging multiple data sources into a real-time analytic framework. It can enable utility operators to adapt swiftly to changes in energy demand and the dynamics of distributed energy resources (DERs).

"By integrating Honeywell's industrial expertise with SparkMeter's capabilities, we are helping SECO Energy to proactively manage grid operations with advanced analytics," said Amol Motivala, President of Honeywell Smart Energy. "By bringing insights to the forefront, this solution enables utilities to maximize existing asset performance while planning critical investments."

With SparkMeter's platform and analytics capabilities, Honeywell Forge Performance+ For Utilities analyzes SECO Energy's asset health and financial performance, providing them with actionable steps to avoid unnecessary costs.

"Our partnership with Honeywell transforms how utilities approach the energy transition," said Dan Schnitzer, CEO of SparkMeter. "By providing continuous asset monitoring of grid assets and on-demand financial analyses, we're enabling utilities like SECO to make data-driven decisions that improve reliability and manage costs during this critical industry transition."

Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Utilities integrates, organizes, and visualizes data from various sources to accelerate analytics processes and digitalize utility grid data into actionable, real-time business and operational insights. It can run a variety of applications, including those from both Honeywell and third-party partners such as SparkMeter.
