K&S developed a simulation software to optimize energy output for battery buffered PV systems
Japan -- The secured feed in of energy from photovoltaic systems in the available electricity networks is no longer possible without restrictions. This trend begins world wide and will hit Germany in near future. In this area, the keyword energy storage will not soon be indispensable. In international markets, such as Japan, requirements for the photovoltaic feed in behavior become reality and confront the developers or investors with a new challenges. It requires the knowledge of how the two technologies of energy storage and photovoltaic system are combined to assure the requirements.
The K&S Engineering company as a technology 'know-how' supplier has prepared for this new interface and developed a new simulation tool for it. Using this special simulation software, not only the major yield forecasts for the investors are done in detail, but it is also possible for the applied control algorithms to perform optimizations. With this, K&S offers a consultancy service combining photovoltaic-energy-storage-system design and the perfectly match of the upcoming control algorithms to be applied. As a supplementary service for investors and banks, K&S performs a technology and supplier evaluation in an technical risk assessment regarding the project.
A first project with >30 MWp installed capacity in Japan with special requirements of the energy supplier and a nearly 20 MW battery power has already successfully been modeled by the K&S experts.
