As announced on the website of the Central Meteorological Observatory, Super Typhoon Yagi, the 11th typhoon of this year, landed in the coast of Wenchang, Hainan at 16:20 on September 6th. At the time of landfall, the maximum wind force near the center was above level 17, with a maximum wind speed of 68m/s and a minimum central pressure of 915 hectopascals, making it the strongest typhoon landed in China this year.

On the path of the typhoon, multiple WindMast 350-MB floating wind lidar systems from Leice are located in the center of the typhoon`s path, experiencing the frontal impact of Typhoon Yagi. Under extremely complex and harsh sea conditions, the floating wind lidar system achieved a 100% data acquisition rate for all observation heights. The lidar, power supply, satellite communication, positioning and attitude determination, navigation protection, hydrological monitoring and other modules were all in stable working condition, and accurate, complete and valuable three-dimensional observation data of strong typhoons were obtained.

intensity information of Typhoon Yagi  Multiple WindMast 350-MB floating wind lidar systems deployed in the North Gulf area are located near the center path of the typhoon, successfully resisting the frontal impact of the typhoon. The maximum wind speed observed at the altitude of 230m was 62.03m/s, and the average wind speed reached 51.93m/s in 10 minutes. During the typhoon`s impact period, the power supply system of each buoy system was in good condition, and the system voltage was maintained within a safe range.

Changes in average wind speed within 10 minutes during the typhoon impact period  The floating wind lidar system independently developed by Leice has strong survivability and can ensure accurate measurement and stable operation under adverse weather and sea conditions. Leice is optimistic about the potential of marine energy to contribute to the world`s energy mix. We believe that with rigorous research and development efforts, we can unlock the full potential of our oceans and leverage them to lessen our dependence on traditional sources of energy.  Furthermore, Leice is acutely aware of the urgent need for effective monitoring and forecasting of marine meteorological disasters. Therefore, we will continue to invest resources in this crucial area to enhance our understanding of the earth`s complex systems and build robust predictive models.  We are confident that, together with our partners and clients, we can make significant strides in the field of marine technology, energy, and disaster management. Leice is proud to play a role in the responsible and sustainable utilization of our planet`s resources.
