MGM Transformer gaining new customers: Simplex
Simplex designs and manufactures Load Banks and Fuel Supply systems for power generation and liquid automation for mission critical environments in manufacturing, technology, transportation, hospitals, schools, public utilities and the U.S. military. Simplex purchases highly engineered medium voltage open core/coil units for placement into Simplex enclosures. These have historically been provided by Olsun on a direct basis with an annual dollar value of over $350k.
Bodine Electric is a local distributor with over $500k in annual purchases with HPS and a conversion target for MC Controls, our new Midwestern plains MGM Rep. MC Controls has strong relationships at both Simplex and Bodine due in part to their recent representation of Olsun and HPS.
An aggressive strategy was developed to convert the transformer business at Simplex, working with MGM Engineering to meet cost and margin goals and to present the Simplex business to Bodine in exchange for their HPS usage. The complexity of the Simplex specification stretched MGM Production capabilities in positive and expected ways. By relying heavily on the strength and value of MGM Engineering, account relationships held by MC Controls at Simplex and Bodine and clear, timely communication between all parties MGM Transformer was able to deliver a solution to meet specification, margin and most importantly, cost goals allowing room for Distribution participation.
With the first transformer being delivered, and with a successful customer review of product quality, our strategy execution will continue with additional Olsun conversions at Simplex and Hammond product conversions at Bodine.
