Westray Tidal Array – Public Consultation Event
Orbital Marine Power is developing plans for the Westray Tidal Array in the Westray Firth, Orkney. The project would involve installing around 70 floating tidal turbines, generating up to 170 MW of renewable electricity. The development would also involve moorings, seabed anchors and inter-array and electrical export cables.
Before submitting any applications, a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) is being conducted to inform local communities, stakeholders and other interested parties and to gather views on the proposals.
Public Consultation Event
A public drop-in event is scheduled to provide project details and allow direct engagement with the project team:
Date and time: Thursday 11 June 2026, 2:00–8:00 pm
Venue: Friends Room, St Magnus Centre, Palace Rd., Kirkwall
You may attend at any time within the stated hours. Project team members will be available to answer questions and discuss the proposals. For attendees unable to travel to Kirkwall, arrangements can be made to provide information or arrange a call or meeting.
