CAF Air Assisted Flares
Where there is a need for smokeless combustion of low pressure, heavy waste gases but no steam is available then GBA Flare Systems CAF air assist flares can be used. CAF air assist flares use forced draft air to create turbulence and to supply the requisite primary air into the base of the flame thus achieving a clean, upright flame. For CAF air assist flares, the necessary air stream is provided by an electrically driven fan which is located at grade. Typically this would feature a two speed motor or inlet vane control in order to achieve a degree of turndown for day to day use. CAF air assist flares are designed to maximise the contact area between the gas and air streams to promote thorough mixing. This is done by passing the gas through thin vanes located within the air flow and additionally through the outer annulus formed around the tip by the concentric construction.
